| Car Rentals & Taxis |
Car rentals are available from agencies in Spanish Town. Pre-booking of a vehicle is advisable. Free pick-up at the airport or ferry terminal is available. A temporary BVI driving licence is required – available at the car rental agency with a valid driving licence from another country (cost US$10.00). Driving is on the left-hand side of the road.
Taxis offer service anywhere on the island. Pre-arranged pick-up from the beaches and shops is readily available. Taxis are not metered but there are official rates for journeys. We recommend that you agree your fare beforehand. |

No vaccination certificates are required to visit the British Virgin Islands.
There are 2 medical clinics on Virgin Gorda staffed by nurses – one in Gun Creek, a 5 minute drive from the villa, and another in Spanish Town, 25 minutes by car or taxi.
There is a public hospital on the main island, Tortola, (8 miles by boat from Virgin Gorda), which has medical, surgical, X-ray and laboratory facilities and in addition a private medical centre staffed by family physicians and specialists.
There are no dangerous animals, spiders or snakes in the British Virgin Islands.
Mosquitoes are usually kept at bay by the trade wind breezes but insect repellent is recommended for calm, still evenings. |
| Passports |
Visitors require a valid passport for entry into the British Virgin Islands. Canadian and US citizens do not require a visa, but visitors from some countries may need a visa in addition to a passport for entry.
There is a US$15.00 departure tax and a US$5.00 security tax levied per person at the airport. |
